Located in the beautiful Kuitpo Forest, Chookarloo Campground offers a serene escape surrounded by Eucalypt woodlands. Ideal for nature lovers and families, this spot provides a peaceful retreat just a short drive from city life with camping available between April – November.
Enjoy camping at one of the 23 sites equipped with picnic tables and fire pits (May-October). The site also offers eco-friendly toilets and a timber shelter. Don't miss hiking the nearby Chookarloo Walk and Heysen Trail.
Advance booking is essential. $20 per vehicle. The campground is open from April to November, with wood fires allowed from May to October. Remember to check for Total Fire Ban days.
Facilities include drop toilets aka bush toilets, and picnic tables. There's plenty to do here such as bush walks and bike trails. There is no online booking, just an envelope to fill out when you get there and drop in the cash to be collected by the ranger later.
Between 1st of December to 31 March the site is closed. Another bonus is the close proximity to McLaren Vale meaning you can stay here for a while and tick off both of these great South Australian destinations.
