Freshwater Camping Area is located in Cooloola Recreation Area, Great Sandy National Park, on the Sunshine Coast between Noosa Heads and Rainbow Beach. This scenic camping spot is nestled among scribbly gum woodland, just a short walk from the beach. Accessible only by high-clearance 4WD vehicles, the campground offers 59 unnumbered sites, including designated group camping areas.

Facilities at Freshwater Camping Area include flushing toilets, hot and cold showers (with a fee for hot showers), and a waste transfer station. There are also free gas barbecues available at the nearby day-use area. Campers can enjoy a peaceful night's sleep surrounded by nature, waking up to the sounds of kookaburras and other native birds. The campground is a great base for exploring the Cooloola Great Walk and nearby Teewah Beach.
