Beechworth Bakery

Steeped in history, the Beechworth Bakery began as Ideal Café & Milk Bar in 1857, catering to the gold rush frenzy. Over 160 years later, it remains a Beechworth icon, tempting visitors with its beautifully crafted pastries, bread, hot meals, and coffee. Carrying the torch of quality baking, the legendary wood-fired ovens continue to churn out delicious treats, ensuring the legacy lives on.

No visit is complete without trying one of their iconic classic steak or curried goat pies. This bakery was the first to create the Ned Kelly Pie, made with beef, bacon, cheese, and a whole egg. Indulge in the simple pleasure of freshly baked bread with a selection of sourdoughs, multigrain loaves, and crusty baguettes, perfect for creating a delicious sandwich. Don’t forget the sweet treats of cakes, slices, and biscuits like the highly praised vanilla slice. The Beechworth Bakery is more than just a bakery; all locals near and far from Beechworth understand that a visit to Beechworth isn’t really a visit without stopping in at this bakery. Open 7 days, 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM (close early Friday – Sunday).
