The Gold Coast lives up to its name with a dazzling array of beaches, each offering a unique experience for every kind of beachgoer. Whether you're a seasoned surfer craving epic waves, a family seeking calm waters and pristine sand, or a sun worshipper looking for the perfect spot to soak up the rays, the Gold Coast has a beach for you.

Surfers Paradise lives up to its name and draws a big crowd with pumping waves for experienced surfers and spectators coming to watch a show. Seeking a quieter spot to take the waves? Head south to Narrow Neck Beach. Families with little ones will find calmer waters perfect for splashing around at Kurrawa Beach or Miami Beach further north. Miami Beach adds a bonus for parents with its trendy cafes and beachfront bars, offering a chance to relax while the kids play. Learning or thinking about taking a lesson? Head to Burleigh Heads and join in on the fun, suitable for all ages and skill levels.

Beyond surfing and working on your glow, there’s plenty more to do on the Gold Coast beaches. Pick your spot to snorkel with options like Palm Beach Reef, Gold Coast's largest coral reef system with a variety of fish and crustaceans, and suitable for all levels. Southport Seaway, a man-made waterway hotspot for marine life, attracts fish, sea turtles, stingrays, and even dolphins. Due to potential strong currents, it is best for experienced and confident swimmers. Likewise, avid adventurers can make their way out far to explore Kirra Reef, known as a rock reef haven for colourful fish, wobbegongs, and octopus.

Snorkelling in these areas will give you a good glimpse into what you can catch now that you are in Queensland and do not require a licence for recreational fishing, just make sure you abide by regulations.
