Get active along the Fortesque Creek in Dales Gorge and make your way to where the creek begins to cascade and offers Fern Pool, a haven for swimming and relaxation.
Your adventure begins at the Fortescue Falls Carpark or at Dales campground if spending the night here. Remember to purchase your park entry pass before embarking on your journey. Once you locate the Dales Gorge Walk trailhead view towering red cliffs sculpted by eons rising around you. Be captivated by the ever-changing light that paints these natural wonders in a mesmerizing array of colours.
The Dales Gorge Walk is a well-maintained trail suitable for most fitness levels. However, the Kimberley sun can be unforgiving. Pack plenty of water and stay hydrated throughout your hike. Sun protection is also essential. Don't forget a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen to shield yourself from the sun's rays. With multiple river crossing sing wobbly rocks, be prepared for the chance of wet shoes.
As you make your way through the trail, don't be fooled by the first swimming spot and continue on until you see a waterfall that makes your first great spot for a swim with warm rocks to sunbathe. Complete your way to fern pool for an oasis, take the plunge and sit in the cave under the waterfall. This area is of strong aboriginal significance, make sure to respect the area for future generations.
While in this area of Karijini National Park, Circular Pool is another must see. Due too risk of rock fall, you cannot or should not go down. However, the pool can be seen from above at a viewing deck. Now closed.
