Hamersley Gorge

Unlike the more popular gorges within Karijini, Hamersley Gorge offers a sense of tranquillity and escape from the crowds. The unsealed road leading to the trailhead might deter some visitors, but for those willing to venture further, Hamersley rewards with a unique experience. When roads are in good condition, 2WD can take on the challenge but there might be times when a 4WD is preferred.

The main attraction of Hamersley Gorge is the hidden paradise of interconnected pools. Hike along the gorge, following the watercourse, and discover a chain of crystal-clear swimming spots. You will first come to 2 pools, continue upstream and discover Spa Pool that requires a short swim and slippery rocks but be greeted with a warm trickling waterfall in a deep pool. Return to the centre and sunbathe with the rocks before going on an adventure through the narrow crack of the gorge downstream.

Hamersley Gorge holds significance for the traditional owners of the land, the Karijini people. Be respectful of their cultural heritage and keep an eye out for rock art sites, silent testaments to their connection to this land. Remember to bring water, sunscreen, a hat, and sturdy shoes.
