Knox Gorge

Centrally located in Karijini National Park, the hidden gem of Knox Gorge and its dramatic entrance is ready to be explored. Note: This is for the more adventurous, requiring a good fitness level and agility, loose gravel and rocks make the track difficult. At the same time, 70 year olds, little kids, and people wearing thongs have done the walk. More than anything, make sure you are prepared and act safely and you will be rewarded with multiple swimming spots.

Embrace the challenge of Knox Gorge and you are sure to be highly rewarded. Descending involves a steep path and rock scrambling. As you navigate the path, towering red walls will rise around you, creating a sense of awe and immersion in the ancient landscape. Keep an eye out for unique geological formations like the banded rock layers, a testament to millions of years of erosion.

Beyond the waterholes, there are slot canyons providing secluded swimming holes waiting to be discovered by those who dare to go beyond. These should only be experienced with local guides that know the area and provide safety equipment. Taking a canyoning tour will let you slide down the Knox slide and access points others can't reach or see.

Tips for Conquering Knox Gorge

Be Prepared: Pack plenty of water, sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat, and sturdy shoes with good grip. The hike involves some rock scrambling, so proper footwear is crucial.

Check the Weather: Heavy rains can make the descent slippery and potentially  dangerous. Always check the weather forecast before setting off. If there is any chance of rain, this is the last spot you want to be.
