Mount Archer, a majestic peak overlooking the vibrant city of Rockhampton, beckons adventurers with its panoramic views and diverse landscapes. The Zamia Walk, a challenging yet rewarding trail, offers the perfect route to conquer this summit and immerse yourself in the beauty of Mount Archer National Park.

The 24-kilometre out-and-back Zamia Walk makes for a full day extravaganza filled with nature and panoramic views. Begin your journey at the Nurim summit trailhead, where you'll be greeted by stunning views across Rockhampton and the Capricorn Coast. As you descend, the trail winds through a captivating landscape of lemon-scented gums, pink bloodwoods, and towering forest she-oaks. Keep your eyes peeled for the diverse wildlife that calls Mount Archer home.

After reaching Sleipner Lookout, the halfway point, you'll once again be rewarded with breathtaking views encompassing the Berserker Range, the Fitzroy River, and the vast expanse of the Capricorn Coast. Here, the trail transitions into a challenging climb back up towards the summit.

Preparation is key to completing this challenging yet highly rewarding hike. Sturdy hiking boots, comfortable clothing suitable for changing weather conditions, and a backpack filled with plenty of water, snacks, sunscreen, and insect repellent are essential. A hat and sunglasses are also crucial for sun protection on exposed sections of the trail. Downloading a map of the trail or using a GPS device can be helpful for navigation.
