A challenging yet rewarding journey that unveils the city's natural beauty and panoramic splendor. Begin your 8 kilometre hike exploring the natural waterholes beneath the waterfalls at Waterfall Gully and finish with the scenic lookout over the city at Mount Lofty Summit.
As you embark on the trail, lush greenery surrounds you, offering a welcome escape from the city's hustle and bustle. Keep your eyes peeled for native wildlife with kookaburras sitting in the trees and wallabies peeking in the undergrowth. Continuing on, the trail starts to become a climb with a reward at the top. As you pass Cleland Wildlife Park or even perhaps visit them, along the fence line you might be able to spot a koala or echidna.
Reaching Mount Lofty Summit, scrubland opens up to city views and the Adelaide Hills. Making it to the top is worthy of celebration, as you are now standing at the highest point in the Adelaide metropolitan area. Go ahead, take a deep breath and soak it all in. Feel like royalty.
Preparing with suitable shoes and plenty of water for this 8-kilometer hike taking roughly 3 hours. Make sure to put on sun protection like sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses. If you get caught short, there is a café with delicious food and refreshing drinks. Make sure to bring a camera so you don’t have to do the hike again.
