Discovery Victoria

Discover Victoria's diverse landscapes and vibrant cities in the warm months between November to April when the sun is out and there is minimal rain.

Do I Need a 4WD?

Most major destinations, including the Great Ocean Road, are accessible with any vehicle on sealed roads. For remote or off-the-beaten-path adventures, such as off roading in the Australian Alps, a high-clearance 4WD is recommended.

Packing Essentials

Bring lightweight clothing for the warm days, a jumper for cooler nights, and sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen) for the day.

Warning

Due to the amazing forests and changing landscapes coupled with the dry summers the Victoria experiences, bush fires can pose significant threat. Be sure to follow fire warnings to identify the daily risk. Never make a fire during fire ban season.

Where To Go:

  • Great Ocean Road: Discover the world famous road-trip coasting from Melbourne towards Adelaide with great spot to visit. Make sure to get out of the car at the world-class surfing beaches around Lorne, explore the waterfalls in the Otway's National Park, and get snappy at the 12 Apostles.

  • High Country: Combine outdoor adrenaline rushes like mountain biking and skiing with rich history. Is Ned Kelly is a criminal or a national treasure?
